Each of our lives is structured around cycles, large and small. These cycles shape and transform us, so that through them we gradually become the person we feel we deeply, thoroughly are. But the transition from one cycle to another is no small feat. Acknowledging first, then accepting, understanding and integrating the changes required of us by crossing these different ‘thresholds’ is seldom easy. Oftentimes, it’s even painful. Growing up, losing our way, falling down, picking ourselves up again, not being able to cope – those and a great many other trials and tribulations form the very fabric of our lives. However, if we are brave enough to be aware of the challenges they pose, they thus become the catalysts that bring us ever closer to a « difficult freedom« *, all the more treasured for having been earned through intense efforts. At life’s crossroads, we must know how to ask for help when we need it. It’s not that we can’t do it alone, but together the journey can be less arduous and the rewards much more lasting. Sometimes some specific presence, an alliance, a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear, a haven, a neutral ground, combined with a structured environment and practical tools, can generate the most solid rungs on a ladder as we climb towards a new way of being.
Thank you for stopping by. Thank you for trusting me to support you, whatever the difficulties you may be facing today, whatever the feelings you may be experiencing. Thank you for being brave enough to embark on your inner hero’s journey .
*Emmanuel Levinas, Difficult Freedom
« Every transformation demands as its precondition « the ending of a world »-the collapse of an old philosophy of life. »
